There has been a change in regulation affecting all stimulant laxatives, including our Dulcolax® range. Going forward, you will only be able to purchase bisacodyl tablets as self-selection in your local supermarket and pharmacy in a pack of maximum 20 tablets, any larger packs will be available behind the pharmacy counter only, under the supervision of the pharmacist. Similarly for the pico liquid products, only the 100ml will be available as self-selection, when the 300ml bottle will remain behind the counter in pharmacy. These measures have been put in place at national level to limit the risk of misuse of this type of laxatives by the population.
As a result, our names had to be amended to reflect these regulatory changes. For Dulcolax® this means that all the packs you will still be able to buy as self-selection will now be named Dulcolax® Adult, and you must be 18 years and over to purchase them. For the packs that will remain behind the pharmacy counter, you will be able to find them under the name Dulcolax® Twelve Plus and can be purchased with the pharmacists advice to people suffering occasional constipation aged from 12 years old.
Note that these changes do not affect the rest of our range and DulcoEase® and DulcoSoft® products remain fully available as self-selection.
See below a summary of our Dulcolax® range and where to find the product for your needs.

Laxatives for constipation can generally be taken at any time, however Dulcolax® Adult 5 mg Gastro-resistant Tablets should not be taken with milk, antacids or proton pump inhibitors. They have a special ‘enteric coating’, which protects the tablet from the stomach’s acidic environment and ensures it’s released in the large intestine, where it’s needed most.
NO - there is no evidence to prove or support that taking laxatives can help aid in weight loss.
